In this digital world, where children are increasingly wired to social media and the internet, the concerns of cyber security, cyber bullying, cyber hygiene are pertinent. With this notion, Index Institute of Dental Sciences,Indore hosted an interactive session by India’s renowned Cyber Security Expert, Mr. Gaurav Rawal. Prof. Gourav Rawal has earned name and prominence in the police department for his unmatched skill to solve cyber-security issues
through his training sessions. He has been associated with Police Radio Training School (PRTS), Indore as guest faculty for various
National and State-level Cybercrime Prevention Awareness Programs, and Training Courses. Prof. Rawal has also been associated with
Police Training College (PTC) Indore and Police Training School, Ujjain (M.P.) as a Cybercrime Trainer and IT Expert to give training to
the newly recruited Constables about various subjects related to Cybercrime & its Investigation. He has conducted 10,0+ workshops in more than 90 cities and has interacted with students belonging to different specialities.
Vice Dean,Dr Rolly Agarwal welcomed the speaker with a sapling.Dr Anjali Surana presented a brief outline of the program. Through his presentation, Prof Mr Rawal told about the legal aspects of accessing the internet like the legal age, ethics and rules of using social media and gaming.The audience were introduced to various terminologies like Cyber Bullying, hacking, fishing, cloning, data theft, digital frauds and grooming.
Several case studies were shared with the audience and they were further sensitized towards privacy and security of data.
Information regarding the Cyber Laws of India was shared with the audience. The resource person demonstrated checking of website security and made participants aware about various ways like two-step verification, comment control, using a strong password, etc that they can adopt in order to avoid Cyber Crimes.
He concluded the session by sharing some tips for internet banking and safe online transactions. He also shared the help line numbers and website for reporting Cyber Crimes. Women and children can report anonymously on www.cybercrime.gov.in.
Dean, Dr Satish Karandikar proposed the vote of thanks and presented the guest speaker with a memento on behalf of Index In The session was attended by students and faculty members.
Dr Suparna Saha, Dr Ranjan Mani Tripathi and Dr Poonam Tomar Rana made the session interactive by asking several questions.
