Awareness Program on World Leprosy Day

On January 30th, 2024, Index Nursing College, affiliated with Malwanchal University, organized an awareness program on the occasion of World Leprosy Day at Government High School, Banwalia. The theme of the program was "Ending Stigma, Embracing Dignity," and it aimed to educate students about the misconceptions surrounding leprosy, promoting dignity and eliminating stigma associated with the disease.

The program was held under the guidance of Dr. Smriti G. Solomon, Principal of Index Nursing College, and with the support of Mr. Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Chairman of the Index Group of Institutes. The event was organized by Prof. Naveen Kumar Jaiswal, HOD of Community Health Nursing, and Dr. Prabhanshu Vyas, Professor, Community Health Nursing Department.

The program began at 12:00 PM and continued until 1:00 PM. Around 60 students from the 9th and 10th grades, along with faculty members from the school, participated in the awareness session. The session was led by Prof. Naveen Kumar Jaiswal, who explained various aspects of leprosy, including:

  • The definition and causative agent of leprosy
  • The source and spread of infection
  • The incubation period and symptoms
  • The classification and diagnostic investigations
  • Treatment and rehabilitation

Dr. Prabhanshu Vyas gave an insightful explanation of the historical background of leprosy. The session also emphasized that leprosy is a microbial disease and not a stigma, encouraging the students to spread awareness in their communities.

To conclude, chocolates were distributed to the students as a token of appreciation. The awareness program was well-received and was a significant step towards promoting awareness and breaking the stigma associated with leprosy.



Republic Day Celebration

31st October, 2023

Index Nursing College, affiliated with Malwanchal University, organized a memorable Republic Day celebration on January 24th, 2024, at the Index Medical College Auditorium. The event, held from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM, was guided by Dr. Smriti G. Solomon, Principal of Index Nursing College, with the enthusiastic participation of faculty and students. The theme of the celebration focused on India’s role as a nurturer of democracy and emphasized the importance of a developed and peaceful India.

The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Dr. G.S. Patel, Dean of Index Medical College Hospital and Research Center, along with special invitees, faculty members, and students. The event was anchored by B.Sc. Nursing 4th-year students, Ms. Ashika Singh and Mr. Prabhu Rudrasish Mohanty.

The cultural program began with a performance by Ms. Saloni and her group of B.Sc. Nursing 4th-year students, who carried the attire of jawans and showcased a vibrant performance that set the tone for the day. Following this, B.Sc. Nursing 1st-year students, Kuldeep and his group, presented a moving act depicting the essence of democracy and peace, evoking strong emotions among the 450 attendees.

B.Sc. Nursing 1st-year students, Ms. Anjali and Ms. Rajshree, followed with a duet dance performance to a patriotic theme, while B.Sc. Nursing 2nd-year students, Ms. Sakshi, Ms. Megha, and Ms. Aayushi, captivated the audience with their Desh Bhakti dance. Additional performances were delivered by students from various years, including Mr. Banti (B.Sc. Nursing 2nd-year), Ms. Muskan (B.Sc. Nursing 4th-year), Ms. Shrishti and Ms. Harshita (GNM 1st-year), Mr. Ansuman (B.Sc. Nursing 1st-year), Ms. Yogita (GNM 1st-year), and Mr. Narendra Verma (B.Sc. Nursing 4th-year).

The event reached its climax with a motivational speech by Dr. S.G. Solomon, who emphasized the role of citizens and youth in shaping the future of the nation, reinforcing the importance of democracy and national peace. The celebration concluded with the flying of colored balloons by the guests, faculty, and students, symbolizing prosperity and peace for the nation. The event ended with a rendition of the national anthem, bringing together over 400 participants in a show of unity and patriotism.



CPR Awareness Training at Index Nursing College

On December 6, 2023, Index Nursing College, in collaboration with the National Board of Examinations in Emergency Medical Services (NBEMS) and the Indian Nursing Council, hosted an impactful CPR Awareness Training session. This online event aimed to equip B.Sc. Nursing third-year students with critical skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), aligning with the commitment of Index Nursing College and NBEMS to enhance emergency medical readiness among future healthcare professionals.

The training commenced with a CPR instructional video, covering essential techniques such as chest compressions, rescue breaths, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The video was followed by an interactive session with healthcare professionals who provided practical insights, addressed questions, and shared real-life scenarios to reinforce theoretical knowledge with practical application.

The training received high engagement, with 100 students actively participating and expressing satisfaction with the content’s practical relevance. The session underscored the importance of immediate treatment for cardiac arrest, as emphasized by Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, who highlighted CPR as a life-saving skill.

The success of this event was facilitated by Mr. Nitin Chicholkar and Mr. Vishal Choudhary, whose coordination ensured smooth delivery and communication throughout the program. Moving forward, it is recommended that periodic CPR training sessions be organized to reinforce skills and incorporate updates in CPR protocols, furthering the emergency preparedness of nursing students. This initiative represents the dedication of Index Nursing College and NBEMS to fostering a well-prepared healthcare workforce capable of delivering crucial medical interventions in emergency scenarios.
