Drug addiction remains a significant and growing concern across India, affecting individuals, families, and communities at multiple levels. The increasing prevalence of substance use disorders has resulted in far-reaching consequences, particularly among the younger population, who are highly vulnerable to psychological, social, and environmental pressures. Addiction often leads to disruptions in interpersonal relationships, declining academic and professional performance, rising crime rates, and long-term mental and physical health complications. Compounding these challenges are factors such as genetic predisposition, emotional distress, peer influence, and adverse family environments, all of which contribute to the risk of dependency. Addressing these issues through awareness, early intervention, and community participation is vital for building a supportive and healthy society.

150th Anniversary Celebration of “Vande Mataram” at Index Homoeopathic College, Hospital and Research Centre, Indore

07th November, 2025

Index Homoeopathic College, Hospital and Research Centre, Indore proudly joined the nation in commemorating the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram,” a momentous milestone celebrating one of India’s most revered national symbols. The year 2025 marks a century and a half since Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay composed this iconic patriotic verse, which later became a source of inspiration for millions. Written in an elegant blend of Sanskrit and Bengali and first published in the 1882 novel Anandamath, “Vande Mataram” played a foundational role in shaping India’s nationalist consciousness. Its lyrical tribute to the motherland stirred emotions across the nation and became deeply woven into the fabric of the country’s freedom struggle.

The song’s profound impact was evident during the independence movement, where it served as a unifying chant for revolutionaries, students, and citizens from diverse regions. Its resonant call for unity, strength, and devotion to the motherland made it an enduring symbol of resistance against colonial oppression. Recognizing its influence, British authorities often banned its public singing, which only deepened its emotional and patriotic power among Indians. “Vande Mataram” gained further national prominence when Rabindranath Tagore first sang it at the 1896 Indian National Congress session. Later, on January 24, 1950, the Constituent Assembly of India bestowed official recognition upon the first two verses, declaring it the National Song of India—standing proudly alongside the National Anthem, “Jana Gana Mana.”

In alignment with the national celebrations, Index Homoeopathic College, Hospital and Research Centre, Indore actively participated in the grand commemoration held at the historic Rajwada on 07 November 2025. The event was graced by the Hon’ble State Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya ji, whose presence added inspiration and significance to the celebration. Faculty members, the Principal, and enthusiastic students of the institution attended the program with great patriotic spirit, reflecting the college’s commitment to national heritage and cultural values. Their participation not only honored the legacy of “Vande Mataram” but also reinforced the institution’s dedication to nurturing socially responsible and nationally conscious healthcare professionals. The event served as a reminder of the song’s timeless message and its continued relevance in shaping India’s identity and collective pride.
