With the aim of preserving beautiful smiles of children, the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry was established to provide oral health care for children including those with special health care needs. Being one of the major specialties in dentistry, the department is very spacious, beautifully designed and well equipped. The colourful ambience of the department makes the child patient feel at home and helps to instill a positive dental attitude for the future.

The Department is equipped with 18 Exclusive Pediatric Dental chairs, X-ray Unit with RVG and Intra oral camera. We are well equipped with the latest materials and techniques available to treat a child. Strict sterilization protocols are followed and the sterilization room has all the latest equipments including front loading autoclaves and ultrasonic cleansers. The clinical laboratory is very spacious having separate areas for dry and wet procedures. Seminar room and Departmental Library are provided for imparting clinical education to students and make a perfect environment for learning

Excellent equipments with good inflow of patient make it a perfect place to learn and enhance clinical skills. It is supported with excellent and dedicated teaching faculty to guide the students. The supporting staff is dedicated to approach all children with affection and care.

Here in our department, Special emphasis is laid on parent counseling so as to educate them about oral health care of children and the various treatment modalities available so that they develop faith and confidence in dental treatment of the child.

Keeping in mind the needs of the children, a separate play room for recreation and entertainment of the children provides a platform for the child to interact with other children of the same age group and put the child patient at ease.

Also the Department has begun "School Dental Health Program" in association with the Department of Community Dentistry. We have adopted over 7000 students from over 30 schools from various parts of the city and provide them free dental treatment. Regular dental health check up camps are organized and the parents and teachers along with the students are being made aware of the importance of oral health care.
